Evaluation criteria class 10 and 12 -- What is in store

Evaluation criteria for classes 10 and 12 has been proposed today by the Govt. where weightage is given to performance in classes 10, 11 and internal performance of class 12. On one hand it defines a criteria for mapping students and their consistemce in academics over the past three years in their education, but on the other, it also puts the science students who focussed on NEET or IIT entrance examinations at some inconvenience. Lets evaluate some case scenarios here 1) Students who focussed completely on IIT and NEET exams after class 10th This set of students normally don't prepare for 12 class board examinations till Dec and then focus on their writing skills in Jan and Feb as they already are equipped with the knowledge, but need to hone their writing skills. They practised this during their class 11 and now in 12 as well. When a child reaches class 9th, there is a sudden change in the manner in which his approach towards life gets modified. Parents start visualising in him an Engineer or a Doctor or a Pilot or anything whatever the parents can think of. Many teachers in school/coaching centres also start segmenting children as 100 marker, 95 marker or 70 marker. The classification by parents or anywhere else though not a candid expression, but starts reflecting in their behaviour. The child by now has gained the capability to pick up subtle intonations of behavioural change of the surrounding social structure. Well, the child is also about 14 - 15 years now and has developed some capability to interpret the world around him and this includes his cousins and friends, some of them may actually be the ones he is trying to emulate. Corona impact on coaching centres

Today's education is a mix of child's learning at school, supplemented/complemented by the learnings at other locations. Till about a couple of decades ago, or to say before the BPO evolution/revolution, Engineering and Medicine were two default career streams for children after schooling. Anyone who was unable to qualify for admission to an Engineering or a Medical College would either take the captitation route or would still opt for these exams, next year. While doing see he may join a Graduation course at a nearby College or may decide to drop a year to fully focus on these exams. BPO generation brought a paradigm shift in the society mindset and a child who may not be academically bright as per the traditional school evaluation system could get employed and earn handsome dollar equivalent salary by working at a Call centre. Impact of Corona on students A question was asked 'What's Newton's law?' 'I am a Science student and not a Law student.' Oh Covid batch! Jokes apart, education system is hammered in real sense by this Corona. The whole world is impacted in multiple ways by this Covid wave but the students are adversely hit. Beyond doubt the technology is so advanced that many folds of our life are working Online and education is one of them. There is a genuine question that comes to my mind Can this Online system provide sense of discipline, social harmony, physical fitness, stage talent and public speaking areas etc? Can the students be groomed as per their potential? The answer to the above questions is simply, 'NO' The educational institutions boast of their Online classes.  Corona has created an impact on the entire world. Freedom of individuals was at question. There have been times when we can't and still are unable to move freely in streets or anywhere outside our residence. This situation has created an impact on the entire civilisation and the biggest challenge has been the natural growth of  children. A child learns a lot from his social interactions, may these be at a classroom in school, in the playground, maybe even the school bus in addition to the social life in his vicinity and weekend visits to shopping malls or even the time spent with friends and relatives during family functions.
